Center for Microbial Pathogenesis
The Center for Microbial Pathogenesis conducts research in diverse aspects of host-pathogen interactions with specific emphasis on infectious agents associated with illness in infants and children. Researchers located in the Center seek to answer essential questions underlying microbial disease, including the host response to infection, the role of polymicrobial infections in the development of disease, the development of microbial resistance, and the generation of new models and systems to study microbial infections, amongst others.
The Center is located within UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, which is recognized as one of the best children’s hospitals in the nation. The Center will continue a tradition of providing the community with the highest possible standards in pediatric research, with the mission of improving the quality of children’s lives throughout the region and worldwide.
