Curriculum

Conferences

The program incorporates the BootCamp conference series and a weekly clinical genetics conference schedule.

Rotations

Currently in place is a basic template indicating the rotations for each of the two years of the Medical Genetics and Genomics residency. The rotation schedule can be reviewed and altered for specific needs.  Night and weekend call is on a rotating basis. Frequency of call depends on the number of fellows in the program. The rotation is individually designed according to the fellow’s clinical and research interests.

Evaluation of Rotations

Residents are evaluated after each rotation by the attending in charge of that rotation.  It does not preclude other attendings from also providing input when appropriate. Each evaluation is reviewed with the fellow to give important direct feedback. Fellows also evaluate the faculty on a semi-annual basis. The fellowship director meets with the fellow regularly as well to give feedback about performance and progress through the fellowship program. The program abides by all ACGME rules relating to fellow and faculty evaluations.

Didactic Lectures, Journal Club, and Society Memberships

The residency program features a comprehensive series of didactic lectures.  We also have a monthly Journal Club and a quarterly Clinical Genetic and Genomics Conference that our trainees actively participate in.

Our program also participates in the Society of Inherited Metabolic Disorders – North American Metabolic Academy (SIMD NAMA)
