Ghaloul Gonzalez Lab
The Ghaloul Gonzalez Lab focuses on identifying novel genetic disorders through exome and genome sequencing in the Western Pennsylvania Amish and Mennonite communities. It also studies the pathophysiology of TANGO2 deficiency.
The lab collaborates with the Center for Clinical Genetics and Genomics, a partnership between UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, and the University of Pittsburgh.
Affiliated Faculty and Staff
- Lina Ghaloul Gonzalez, MD - Principal Investigator
- Paige Heiman, BSc - Lab Technician
Current Projects
A multitude of genetic diseases are characterized in the Plain population, and we aim to identify novel genetic disorders/ disease-causing variants. We are aiming to understand the pathophysiology of TANGO2 induced mitochondrial energy dysfunction.
