Teaching

The teaching activities of our fellows are an important aspect of their training. During periods of clinical service, fellows directly oversee the house staff and medical students caring for pulmonology patients on the pediatric wards. Bedside teaching is part of this responsibility.

In addition, fellows participate in the house staff and fellowship teaching conferences and are responsible for preparing talks on a variety of topics in pediatric pulmonology. The divisional journal club, weekly teaching conferences and monthly radiology conferences are other important venues for fellows to hone their teaching skills.

Fellows can participate in teaching medical students in the Advanced Physical Exam course during their second and third years.

Educational conferences that our fellows participate in are outlined here-
Divisional educational conferences:
- Pulmonology didactics conference
- Pulmonary Research Seminar
- Journal Club

Interdisciplinary educational conferences:
- Monthly Radiology conference
- Monthly conference with Otolaryngology and Gastroenterology
- Semi-annual conferences with Pediatric Surgery

The division actively participates in the Pediatric Pulmonary/Sleep Case Conference hosted by the American Thoracic Society (ATS PPSC) a national webinar with active participation of academic centers across the country.

Departmental conferences that pediatric pulmonology fellows attend include:
