Scholarship Oversight Committee Guidelines

Per the American Board of Pediatrics, each fellow should have a Scholarship Oversight Committee to review scholarly activity and fellow’s written work product. This committee should consist of ≥3 individuals with at least one mentor outstide the subspecialty discipline. The fellowship program director can participate in the oversight committee activities but should not be a standing member.

The Scholarship Oversight Committee will:

  • Determine if fellows activity meets ABP scholarly activity guidelines
  • Advise fellows on how to complete their project
  • Evaluate fellows scholarly activity progress
  • Meet regularly with fellows
  • Require fellows to present/discuss/defend their scholarly activity
  • Inform the fellowship program director on the fellow’s progress and determine if the fellow has met the guidelines for active participation in scholarly activity
