Pitt Pediatrics congratulates associate professor John F. Alcorn, PhD, of the Division of Pulmonology, on his selection to serve as chair of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Immunity and Host Defense study section.
Operating under the purview of the NIH Center for Scientific Review, Alcorn will lead reviews of grant applications pertaining to innate and adaptive immune responses to many pathogens, viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites. His two-year term will begin July 1, 2021.
In addition to his appointment with Pitt Pediatrics, Alcorn holds a secondary faculty appointment in Pitt's Department of Immunology and is associate director of the Richard King Mellon Foundation Institute for Pediatric Research.
