Bailey Recieves Philanthropic Research Grant

Pitt Pediatrics congratulates Kelly M. Bailey, MD, PhD, for her recent awardance of a research grant from the Charlie Landers Foundation through the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Pittsburgh. The philanthropic funding will be allocated for Bailey’s research into the role of galectin-3 in metastatic Ewing sarcoma.

Bailey’s research hypothesizes that galectin-3 (Gal3) acts as an immunoinhibitory factor in Ewing sarcoma, and proposes to study the impact of Gal3 on tumor immune cell infiltration.

Using state of the art technology, such as single cell biology and integrated patient samples, Bailey has carefully built models that reflect the human experience of Ewing sarcoma which will provide verified findings and help identify effective interventions.

The grant award was decided upon by unanimous vote by the Charlie Landers Foundation Medical Advisory Board, and has a funding period of one year.
