Children’s Celebrates Research with 12th Children’s Hospital Research Day

UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is known for the great care given to children every day, but it is also known for the amazing research done behind the scenes to help treat those children too. May 16th was the 12th Annual Children’s Hospital Research Day seminar to celebrate and present that hard work.

The event had a record-breaking 96 abstracts submitted across different career stages and disciplines, 11 of which that received top scores were selected to give oral presentations on stage on their topic with photo sketches. From the talks and poster presentations, four winners, one best talk and three posters, won gift basket prizes from the seminar.

A highlight of the seminar was the keynote speaker, former Department of Pediatrics professor, Vice Chair of Basic Research Emeritus, Carl M. Bates, MD, with his talk “A journey with kidneys and bladders – a rewarding career as a physician scientist?”
