Pitt Pediatrics congratulates members of our Division of Health Informatics on securing a grant from UPMC Enterprises and the Pittsburgh Health Data Alliance.
This grant will support development of a virtual intelligent early warning system at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Using machine learning, the system will produce patient acuity indexes to predict clinical deterioration of Children's Hospital inpatients. The system will aid Children's providers with determining appropriateness of ICU transfers.
The project is led by Christopher M. Horvat, MD, MHA, assistant professor of critical care medicine and pediatrics, and Gabriella Butler, MSN, RN, director of healthcare analytics and strategy at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
