Mack Appointed Education Subcommittee Training Fellow Liason for AAP

Pitt Pediatrics congratulates Molly Mack, MD, for recently being appointed as the Education Subcommittee Training Fellow Liaison for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section of Hematology/Oncology (SOHO). Mack is a second-year fellow with the Division of Hematology-Oncology, and is a former resident and Chief Resident with our Department of Pediatrics.

The Section of Hematology/Oncology within the American Academy of Pediatrics is an international organization dedicated to the promotion of “health and well-being of children affected by cancer and blood disorders through policy, education, and advocacy for patients and their providers, with a commitment to address overt and implicit biases at the personal, systemic, and structural levels which interfere with equitable care for all children.” Mack’s particular appointment with SOHO is a two-year position that provides the opportunity to work with the Program Chair of the Executive Committee to identify topics for the general pediatric hematology/oncology sessions at the AAP national conference.

In this role, Mack plans to work to identify gaps in education for SOHO members and help develop educational programming. “I am excited about this role because I have a career interest in medical education,” Mack says of the opportunity. Concurrently, Mack is beginning a Masters program in Medical Education through Pitt’s Institute for Clinical Research Education, which she hopes will provide a great opportunity to develop and apply her skills towards her clinical pursuits.
