Pitt Pediatrics congratulates Heidi Ochs, DO, MPH, FAAP, for being recognized by the Pennsylvania Medical Society as one of 2023’s Top Physicians Under 40. Ochs is an Assistant Professor in the Paul C. Gaffney Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and is the Regional Medical Director of PHM at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. In this role, Ochs is responsible for coordinating pediatric hospital medicine and developing the pediatric service line at the UPMC regional hospitals across Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) was founded in 1848 with the goal of bettering the practice of medicine in Pennsylvania for patients and providers. Currently, it strives to act as the voice of Pennsylvania’s physicians, by advancing leadership, advocacy, quality patient care, and overall public health. The Top Physicians Under 40 recognition is part of PAMED’s efforts to highlight and celebrate leading clinical providers at an early stage in their medical careers.
To be selected, physicians must be nominated to PAMED by colleagues, and selected by a committee of member physicians. In her nomination, Ochs’ colleague said of her, “ [Ochs] has dedicated herself to improving access and level care to children in the communities she was raised but also beyond.”
Ochs received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rochester, her Master in Public Health from Drexel University, and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Cleveland Clinic Children’s in Cleveland, Ohio. She also completed a pediatric chief residency year at Cleveland Clinic Children’s. Her past appointments include Clinical Associate of Pediatrics at Cleveland Clinic Children’s and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Upstate Medical University Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Prior to her current appointment with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, she was the medical director of pediatrics at UPMC Northwest.
