Michael J. Comunale, MD, MBA

Pitt Pediatrics congratulates executive administrator Michael J. Comunale, MBA for his research titled "Integrating Advanced Practice Providers into value based care strategies: One organization's journey to achieve success through interprofessional collaboration," recently published in the Journal of Interprofessional Education & Practice.

The study demonstrated use of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) at an urban academic pediatric hospital can increase patient volume, boost patient and provider satisfaction scores, improve overall APP productivity, and more importantly, lead to improved access to pediatric specialty care.

Comunale's study was conducted in collaboration with Whitney Lerch, PA-C, Pediatric APP Program Manager at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, and Ben Reynolds, PA-C, Chief Advanced Practice Officer at UPMC's Office of Advanced Practice Providers.
