Rajan Appointed Chair of Neurogenetics Section of AAN

Pitt Pediatrics congratulates Deepa Rajan, MD, for her appointment of Chair of the Neurogenetics Section of the American Academy of Neurology.

Rajan has served as the Director of the Neurogenetics Clinic and Translational Research Program within The Department of Pediatrics as well as the Clinical Director of the Program for Neurodevelopment in Rare Disorders (NDRD) and then Director of NDRD and now will sit as the Chair of the Neurogenetics Section, moving up from her co-chair spot with the AAN.

“Deepa has found her academic home and is thriving in it,” said Ira Bergman, MD, PhD, Director of Neurology and Child Development division. “We are grateful to everyone in the division for their support and team spirit that provides the foundation for our individual successes.”

Rajan recently described a new neurogenetic disorder of the GEMIN5 gene and was awarded a grant from The Scleroderma Foundation alongside Kathryn Torok, MD, for their project called “Are Somatic Mutations Underlying Craniofacial Scleroderma Phenotypes.”
