Rick Receives NIH K23 Award to Study Maternal Influenza Immunization and Infant Protections

Anne-Marie Rick, MD, MPHPitt Pediatrics congratulates instructor Anne-Marie Rick, MD, MPH, of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics on her receipt of a NIH K23 Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award titled Infant Protection from Influenza through Maternal Influenza Immunization.

This grant will support Rick's research investigating epidemiologic and immunologic protections provided to infants against influenza through immunization during pregnancy.  Special focus will be given on breastmilk-mediated protection.  A cohort of 49,000 mother-infant pairs from UPMC facilities will be used.

Rick's grant through the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, 1K23AI159399-01, provides funding support through May 31, 2026.  

She is mentored by Judith M. Martin, MD, and John V. Williams, MD.
