Seynnaeve Receives Melanoma Research Foundation Grant, Will Develop Multi-Institutional Pediatric Registry

Brittani K.N. Seynnaeve, MD, MSPitt Pediatrics congratulates Brittani K.N. Seynnaeve, MD, MS, assistant professor in the Division of Hematology-Oncology, on her receipt of a Melanoma Research Foundation grant.

This grant will support Seynnaeve's study of pediatric melanoma patients in a retrospective database to standardize care and create data-driven treatment guidelines.  Additionally, this project will create a "prospective database" of pediatric melanoma patients.  Her team will seek collection of patient information, access to tumor samples, and photographic documentation to support ongoing research of melanoma, which is the primary skin cancer of pediatric patients.

Seynnaeve will receive two years of financial support totaling $100,000.  

Her research is supported by mentor John M. Kirkwood, MD, distinguished professor and co-leader of the Melanoma and Skin Program in Pitt's Department of Medicine.
