Silva Receives Competitive Medical Research Fund Grant

Pitt Pediatrics congratulates Laurie Silva, PhD, for receiving the UPMC Competitive Medical Research Fund (CMRF) grant. Her application submitted was tilted “Development of Pharmacological Inhibitors of Chikungunya Virus Capsid Protein.” 

$25,000 was awarded to Silva and her collaborator, Paul Johnston. The intent of the CMRF program is to “provide funds for junior, independent scientist to develop the preliminary data and refinement of procedures and hypotheses that will enable submission of highly competitive applications to national funding sources.”
