Wang-Erickson, Ho, Forno Receive Pitt CTSI Public Health Trans-Disciplinary Collaboration Pilot Award

Anna Wang-Erickson, PhDPitt Pediatrics congratulates Anna Wang-Erickson, PhDJacqueline Ho, MD, MSc, and Erick Forno, MD, MPH, for their respective awards from the Clinical and Translational Science Institute as part of the Public Health Trans-Disciplinary Collaboration Pilot Awards.

Each team has been awarded $45,000 for their efforts in addressing public health under the threat of climate change through “precision public health,” an emerging field that employs data science to develop targeted interventions by person, place, and time.

Forno’s team is analyzing electronic health records to deliver better precision care to childhood asthma patients.

Ho’s team is working on understanding complex environmental risk factors like climate change-related heat stress experienced in communities with endemic chronic kidney disease of unknown origin.

Wang-Erickson’s team is developing the first large-scale population-based genomic epidemiologic study of human metapneumovirus, the second-most common cause of lower respiratory infection in U.S. children.
