Amy M. Jean, MD

Jean is an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes. Jean received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She completed medical school at Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, WV in 2002. She completed her pediatric residency at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 2005. She completed her pediatric endocrinology fellowship under Columbia University Medical Center, at New York- Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in 2008. Prior to joining Pitt Pediatrics, Jean was in private practice in Wheeling, West Virginia. In 2018 she joined the Division of Endocrinology faculty. She currently maintains active certification in Pediatric Endocrinology. Jean has a clinical interest in diagnosis and management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, autoimmune thyroid disease, precocious puberty, short stature, and managing childhood obesity and its complications. Jean also serves as the Medical Director for Camp Courage, an American Diabetes Association sponsored summer camp serving children with diabetes in Western Pennsylvania. Her passion is connecting children and families with diabetes to encourage and support each other and create life-long friendships.
