Dr. Elizabeth Sensenig joined the Paul C. Gaffney Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) in 2016 after spending a year in private practice in the Pittsburgh community. A Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh residency graduate, Dr. Sensenig is currently practicing full-time as a pediatric hospitalist with the PHM Division, spending a portion of her time in the evening hospitalist program. She was appointed medical director of the Medical/Surgical Unit at the Pediatric Specialty Hospital, part of The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh, in fall 2017, where she oversees best practices, census management, and coordination of care for the admitting services.
Dr. Sensenig is currently a member of a pilot program within the division aimed at familiarizing junior faculty with the process behind designing and performing quality improvement projects. The program's first project involves assessment of asthma education in hospitalized patients through collaboration with nursing staff as well as respiratory therapists.
Dr. Sensenig enjoys teaching medical students and residents at the bedside as well as in didactic sessions. She is an instructor in both the Advanced Pediatric Examination course and the Ethics curriculum.
