Erica Braverman, MD
- Instructor of Pediatrics
Braverman has a stellar record of clinical and research training. She completed both B.A. and M.D. degrees at Brown University. Following medical school, Braverman completed the combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics (Med-Peds) residency training program at University of Rochester Medical Center, one of the best combined residency programs in the US.
During this time, Braverman was awarded a prestigious American Society of Hematology Next Generation Physician Scientist Award to conduct research in a pediatric hematology/oncology laboratory. She was then recruited to complete her fellowship training in pediatric hematology/oncology at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. During her fellowship, she was awarded a funded position on the highly competitive University of Pittsburgh Cancer Immunology Training Program T32 training grant. In addition, Braverman was selected for the inaugural class of the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Physician-Scientist Incubator Program, which is supported by a grant from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund. During her final year of fellowship, Braverman was awarded a position on the competitive CHP Scholar/NIH K12 grant through our Department of Pediatrics and was also selected for funding as a St. Baldrick’s Fellow. In addition to the above accomplishments,
Braverman has also successfully shared her work with the larger scientific community. She presented at the regional Translational Research Cancer Centers Consortium, had an abstract selected for an oral presentation at the American Association of Immunologists annual meeting, presented a poster abstract at the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer annual meeting, and presented a poster at the ASH annual meeting in 2020. In addition, she is the primary author on a review article in Current Opinions in Hematology. She is currently a clinical instructor in the Department of Pediatrics.
