Greg A. Barretto, Jr., MD is the Regional Medical Director of the Division of Newborn Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. Greg received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Philippines Manila and his Doctor of Medicine from De La Salle University Health Sciences Institute. He also received his Master of Science in Health Evaluation Sciences from Penn State College of Medicine. He completed a general pediatrics residency at Cooper University Hospital and fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine. Prior to moving to Pittsburgh in 2017, Greg was the Director of Quality, Medical Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship Director at West Virginia University Medicine Children’s. Greg is a neonatologist with interest in decreasing variation in care and improving outcomes for women and newborns throughout the UPMC health system. This includes developing and operationalizing plans to align obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, and newborn care while maintaining a pragmatic approach to account for differences in patient and family needs, as well as resources across facilities. His work has resulted in improve processes and outcomes in the care of newborns across the system. Greg is currently a student at Katz Executive MBA (EMBA) in Healthcare.
