Kevin Clement Chiang, MD, MEd

Chiang is a categorical pediatrics resident at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. He earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics and Physiology & Neurobiology at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he was a member of the Gemstone Honors Program within the Honors College. He was inducted into multiple honor societies, and he served as president of Primannum Honor Society (Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma).

Following his undergraduate degrees and a gap year working as a scribe in multiple emergency departments, Chiang attended medical school at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where he also earned a Master of Education in Lifelong Learning and Adult Education in the MD/MEd program. During medical school, he developed his interest in pediatrics while also pursuing a wide range of research endeavors. Furthermore, he sought out numerous leadership roles within the realm of medical education, including serving as a task force member on the medical school's Competency and Sub-Competency Task Force, committee member on the Phase I Assessment Review Committee, lecturer for the Student Taught Examination Preparation (S.T.E.P.) Program, course tutor for the Gastrointestinal Pathophysiology and Nutrition course and the Gastrointestinal Anatomy course, curriculum design partner for a new Health Systems and Equity Course developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and vice president for PULSE, a medical student run academic course cultivating interest in medicine, biomedical science, and healthcare systems science for high school learners. After medical school, Chiang moved to Pittsburgh for his pediatrics residency. His career interests currently include primary care and sports medicine. His professional interests also include medical education, with particular interests in social media, recruitment, mentoring, and wellness. He is currently involved in both the Recruitment Committee and Pediatric Residents Interested in Medical Education (PRIME).
