Samuel Gagne, MD, MPH
- Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Samuel Gagne, MD, MPH is a pediatric rheumatologist at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Gagne earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology and neuroscience from Brandeis University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. He completed a residency in Social Pediatrics at Children's Hospital at Montefiore in Bronx, New York and a fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
While in fellowship, Gagne also completed a Master's in Public Health with a focus on biomedical informatics from The Ohio State University. Gagne joined the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in 2023. He has a clinical and research interest in chronic childhood vasculitis and is a member of the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) Chronic Childhood Vasculitis workgroup as well as a member of the international Pediatric Vasculitis (PedVas) initiative. Through these collaborative research efforts, Gagne hopes to improve treatment outcomes and overall quality of life for pediatric patients with chronic vasculitis. In addition to vasculitis, Gagne has an interest in clinical and research informatics, specifically in improving the interaction between users and the electronic health record. He is a member of a number of hospital informatics committees and will be assisting in the children's hospital's transition to UPMC Bridges.
