Sarel J. Urso
- Doctoral Graduate Student
Sarel Urso earned a B.A. in Biochemistry with highest honors from Oberlin College in May 2016. During her undergraduate career, Sarel conducted research in a variety of biology and chemistry labs, including labs at Baylor College of Medicine and Oberlin College. Her work with Dr. Manish Mehta culminated in a first author paper in 2014. Additionally, Sarel was the recipient of the national Barry Goldwater Scholarship as a sophomore in 2014.Currently, Sarel Urso is conducting her doctoral research in Dr. Todd Lamitina’s lab. Using the model organism Caenorhabditis elegans she is using genetics to dissect the molecular pathways regulating the essential cellular response to hypertonic stress.
