Tony R. Tarchichi, MD
- Associate Professor of Pediatrics
Tony Tarchichi is a hospitalist in the Paul C. Gaffney Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. He is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh. He created and hosts the PHM from Pittsburgh podcast which started in October 2016 and covers relevant educational topics in PHM. He helped start and is the director of the PHM fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Tarchichi attended Rutgers New Jersey Medical School where he also completed a combined Medicine-Pediatrics residency. He was chief resident in the Med-Peds program during his 4th year and was the Pediatric Chief Resident the following year. Afterward, he worked in a small community hospital in New Jersey as a Med-Peds hospitalist before moving to Pittsburgh in 2013. His research interests include how newer media, such as podcasts, affect learning patterns of physicians.
With the recent recognition by the ABP of PHM as its own subspecialty and as PHM fellowships begin the process of ACGME accreditation, it is an exciting time for the field of PHM. He will continue to work to develop innovative and convenient ways for hospitalists to pursue continuing medical education and professional development opportunities.
