Dr. Tony Tarchichi joined the Paul C. Gaffney Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine in 2013 following a year as a pediatric hospitalist at a community hospital in northwest New Jersey. A graduate of the combined residency in internal medicine-pediatrics at Rutgers New Jersey School of Medicine, Dr. Tarchichi currently serves as a full-time pediatric hospitalist for the division, serving as a teaching attending on the general pediatrics wards.
Best Practice Development
Dr. Tarchichi has led the panel on establishing clinical effectiveness guidelines for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for skin and soft tissue infections in children in collaboration with the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Department of Pediatric Surgery.
Dr. Tarchichi is currently a member of a pilot program within the division aimed at familiarizing junior faculty with the process behind designing and performing quality improvement projects. The program's first project involves assessment of asthma education in hospitalized patients through collaboration with nursing staff as well as respiratory therapists.
Dr. Tarchichi led the development of the curriculum for the division’s newly-launched fellowship program in pediatric hospital medicine and serves as its program director. He has developed a pediatric hospital medicine podcast series for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
