Wei Chen, PhD
- Professor of Pediatrics, Biostatistics, and Human Genetics
Wei Chen received his Ph.D. in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan. He is currently a tenured Professor of Pediatrics and the Director of Statistical Genetics Core, in the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, at the University of Pittsburgh. Chen’s research interests include developing statistical and computational methods for high-throughput genetics/genomics data, such as DNA sequencing, methylation, bulk and single cell RNA sequencing data, and their applications to complex diseases, such as childhood asthma and age-related macular degeneration. He has served as a Principal Investigator (PI) in multiple grants from National Institute of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation (NSF). His research activities have resulted in the publication of over 130 peer-reviewed papers. He is an editorial board member of Genome Biology as well as American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology.
