The Research Administration team supports the Department of Pediatrics with financial management and reporting associated with all funding, internal and external, in advancing the academic mission of the Department. Our team assists the faculty with preparing grant applications, clinical trial budgets, financial forecasting, effort reporting, profit/loss statements, core and building support, and overall financial responsibility of accounts.
We provide support to our divisions, centers, and large programs, including the Research Advisory Committee, the Pediatric Clinical and Translational Research Center, Clinical Research Support Services, and Richard King Mellon Foundation Institute for Pediatric Research. We take pride in training and mentoring our staff to ensure compliance with all institutional and agency guidelines that govern research.
Our team has responsibilities across the Pediatric Service Line, managing academic finances through Pitt and UPMC. We work closely with our academic affiliates, including the Office of Sponsored Programs, Research/Cost Accounting, School of Medicine administration, and the Senior Vice Chancellor for the Health Sciences offices. We also work closely with staff at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, UPMC Office of Sponsored Programs and Research Support (OSPARS), University of Pittsburgh Physicians (UPP) Pediatrics, and the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation.
Central Grants Management Office
Ensures compliance with all applicable policies during proposal and submission and maintains department funding data for all proposals.
Pre-Award Administration
Assists faculty and staff with various federal award tasks and administration of clinical trials
Post-Award Administration
Manages ongoing financial oversight and compliance of grants and contracts, reconciles revenue and expenses, and closes out accounts.
Data Management and Reporting
An office responsible for reporting internal and external data, clinical trial tracking, financial tracking, and facility space databases.
Rangos Research Center Building Administration
Managing day-to-day core facility operations, select internship programs and special funding opportunities.
Human Resources Administration
Managing day-to-day Pitt staff and postdoctoral scholar employment matters.
Academic Finance
Manages budgets and monthly reviews for relevant Pitt, UPMC, and foundation accounts.
