Canon Printing

The University of Pittsburgh announced on December 15, 2024 a new printing policy surrounding the procurement of services and supplies for printers located in Departments that are not a part of the University Managed Print Services (UMPS).

You can read a University Times article from the Fall, 2024 here: More streamlined, sustainable printing systems coming to Oakland campus | University Times | University of Pittsburgh

The Department of Pediatrics is pleased to announce that this Spring, we will be receiving new Canon devices in most areas where academic research is conducted and Pitt workstations are located. Initial deployment will begin in March, 2025.

Users will need a valid Pitt Identification Card (Panther Card). For more information about obtaining a Panther Card or replacing an expired card, please visit here: Panther Card | Panther Central | University of Pittsburgh

The Department is also currently working to schedule a day for Panther Central to come to Rangos for a card printing event for those in Pediatrics for a smoother transition. More details on that will be forthcoming. This webpage will be updated as deployment approaches.

Training and materials

Training materials have been developed by UMPS and Cannon.  You can view those materials here: Canon Resources | Parking, Transportation & Services | University of Pittsburgh

These materials are helpful for learning all the different ways to send print jobs and how to retrieve those jobs from the new devices.

Cannon printers support:

  • Secure Print
  • Tap to Print (can use a PIN code too)
  • Remote web printing
  • Email printing
  • App printing
