The Division of Rheumatology is one of the most distinguished pediatric rheumatology programs in the country. The Division is composed of six physicians, two basic scientists, and one physician assistant. One of the clinicians, Dr. Daniel Kietz, is trained in both pediatric and adult rheumatology. The Division Chief, Dr. Amr Sawalha, also directs the UPMC Lupus Center of Excellence and treats young adults and adult patients with lupus.

Our division is one of the top NIH-funded pediatric rheumatology units in the country and is heavily engaged in multiple research initiatives.

Clinical Operations

Our physicians provide consultation for inpatients and operate a very busy outpatient practice at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
