- Fellow, PGY-5
- Pediatric Hospital Medicine
Dr. Anna Nelson (she/her/y’all) started as a Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellow after completing her residency in Internal Medicine & Pediatrics at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY, where she was also the Med-Peds Chief Resident. During residency, Dr. Nelson focused on Medical Education by participating in QI projects prioritizing resident protected time while also completing the MedEd track and developing a curriculum to teach medical students about documentation. She received the Chair’s Award for her scholarly activity during residency which included several posters presented at national conferences. As a PHM fellow, Dr. Nelson retains her focus on Medical Education, specifically educating trainees on the important non-clinical obligations of physicians such as accurate billing, coding, and documentation while she is simultaneously taking classes to earn her Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Nelson is a member of the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Ethics Committee. She was the first trainee editorial board member of the Society of Hospital Medicine’s The Hospitalist and continues to contribute to the magazine as a member of SHM. Dr. Nelson maintains her Med-Peds identity as a member of the Association of Med-Peds Physicians in addition to several other national organizations including the ACP, AAP, and APA.
