Julia Warren McDonald, MD

Julia W. McDonald, MD is a pediatric resident and part of the Pediatric Advocacy Leadership and Service (PALS) track at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Julia received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Providence College and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. She worked for three years between undergraduate and medical school as a research assistant completing Alzheimer’s Disease clinical trials at Yale University. She started her residency training here in June 2021.

Julia is interested in improving the social and environmental factors that influence the health of a pediatric population and is in the process of serving on a non-profit board in Pittsburgh that focuses on maintaining and sustaining affordable housing. She has been a member for physicians for human rights and previously worked to create an asylum clinic for asylum-seekers where they can receive forensic physical exam evaluations to substantiate their application for asylum in the United States.
