CHAMP: Career Help Advancement and Achievement Mentorship Program

Career Help Advancement and Achievement Mentorship Program (CHAMP)

CHAMP is a bridge providing tangible mentorship between Arsenal Middle School Students, University of Pittsburgh Medical Students, and our UPMC/Pitt faculty. Both medical students and middle school students receive mentorship. We host educational events and curriculums throughout the school year at Arsenal, with a wide variety of subjects from CPR Education to Career Day.

Our community partners and Pitt Med students attend these events as volunteers and instructors. Additionally, Pitt Med students receive mentorship through physician mentor matches and attending our various Lunch & Learn sessions focusing on topics from Imposter Syndrome to First Generation Physicians.

Our Mission

Encourage and support middle school students on their path to achieving levels of higher education and to support medical students in the mentorship process as they give back to younger learners through community involvement and mentoring. We aim to cultivate sustainable mentoring relationships, promote community involvement, and increase and strengthen the pipeline for students in Pittsburgh.
