Feranchak Lab
The Feranchak laboratory studies cellular mechanisms of hepatobiliary transport to identify new treatments for cholestatic liver diseases. The laboratory uses a variety of techniques to investigate membrane proteins including dynamic, multi-scale, live-cell imaging combined with patch clamp recording. Additionally, they have developed new models of polarized epithelium, cell culture systems, and genetic mouse models. The use of these specialized models, biophysical approaches, and advanced live-cell fluorescence imaging techniques provides an integrated approach to study liver physiology. The laboratory is a training ground for fellows in Gastroenterology, Cell biology, and Physiology as well as those with an interest in gastrointestinal and liver disease, epithelial transport, or ion channel physiology.
