3rd Annual Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Symposium

The Intersections of Religion, Spirituality, and Medicine

Thursday, September 14th, 2023

Medicine is felt to be a science with objective data-based evidence.  This may at times seem to be in contradiction to the faith of the medical community.  Those of faith may feel marginalized.  Simultaneously our patients live their faith and spirituality during time of health and during times of illness and providers need to meet them in this space. In our third annual DEI symposium we will be exploring the how medical providers from various disciplines live their own religion and spirituality as well as its impact on our patients lived experience.

The symposium begins with Pediatric Grand Rounds with featured speaker Asim Padela, MD, MSC, FACEP, and their talk "Muslim Experiences as a Critical Lens in the 'Problem' of Religion in Medicine".
