Kathyayini Parlakoti Gopalakrishna, MBBS, PhD
- Postdoctoral Fellow
Kathy attended medical school at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore (India) and completed PhD in Human Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh. Her dissertation work focused on the role of maternal breast milk immunoglobulin A (IgA) in early neonatal colonization and prevention of necrotizing enterocolitis in preterm infants. She joined the Hooven lab as a postdoctoral fellow and is working on identifying surface/secreted proteins of Group B Streptococcus that influence the neonatal intestinal colonization.
