Ragavan Named Inaugural Medical Justice in Advocacy Fellow by American Medical Association

Maya I. Ragavan, MD, MPH, MSPitt Pediatrics congratulates assistant professor Maya Ragavan of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics on her recognition by the American Medical Association and Satcher Health Leadership Institute as an inaugural Medical Justice in Advocacy Fellow.

Ragavan is one of twelve physician leaders across the United States selected from over 300 different applicants with varying subspecialty experience.  She will work with the association and institute to discuss solutions for health equity in underrepresented and underserved communities. Her term begins September 2021 and continues through November 2022.

At Pitt Pediatrics and UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Ragavan is active as a general pediatrician and health sciences researcher.  Her research incorporates extensive community stakeholder involvement, such as recent vaccine outreach and equity efforts in the city of Pittsburgh.
