Pitt Pediatrics Welcomes Kader Cetin Gedik, MD to Our Faculty

Pitt Pediatrics welcomes Kader Cetin Gedik, MD to our faculty in the Division of Rheumatology. Gedik is a board-certified pediatric rheumatologist and will have appointments at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and as an assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. 

Gedik received her medical degree from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical School in Istanbul, Turkey. She then completed her residency at Nassau University Medical Center followed by fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at Cohen Children’s Medical Center in NY. She also completed a clinical/research fellowship in autoinflammatory diseases at the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). 

Gedik’s primary clinical interest is systemic autoinflammatory diseases (SAIDs)/Periodic Fever Syndromes. She also has a strong interest in Behcet’s Disease. Her research interests include clinical outcome measures and epigenetics in SAIDs and has presented her research at numerous international conferences and meetings. In addition, Gedik has worked with a group of international experts who developed points-to-consider for the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of patients with autoinflammatory type I interferonopathies. She is a member of The Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA), the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), The International Society of Systemic Autoinflammatory Diseases (ISSAID) and PReS Emerging Rheumatologists and Researchers (EMERGE). 

Gedik lives in the North Hills with her husband and son. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, and traveling. In addition, she loves to discover human beings in different ways, and she is interested in learning more about different personality types, primarily Enneagram.
